Description: The packing gland is the end clamping and fixing component.
1. Axial clamping and positioning: Applies uniform axial preload to the whole series of stuffing boxes, ensuring that every stuffing box and sealing ring fits tightly with no gaps and preventing high-pressure hydrogen from leaking through the end faces.
2. Limiting and fixing: Constrains all packing components within the stuffing box cavity and withstands the axial thrust caused by unit start-up and shutdown and by pressure fluctuations, preventing the packing components from shifting.
3. Integrated flow passages: The gland body incorporates a nitrogen purge port, a leak recovery port, and a lubricating oil port, allowing nitrogen isolation and recovery of small amounts of leaked hydrogen, in accordance with explosion-proof safety design requirements.
4. Heat dissipation and protection: Works with the cooling circuit to carry away the heat of sealing friction; on the outside it acts as the end protective housing of the stuffing box, blocking external dust and impurities from entering the packing area.
5. Installation datum: As the assembly locating end of the packing assembly, it ensures the coaxiality of the piston rod with the whole sealing assembly, reducing uneven wear and extending the service life of the packing rings.
The part is an annular flange-type sleeve with a central bore through which the piston rod reciprocates.
