Second-Stage Guide Ring

Description: The second-stage guide ring of a hydrogen compressor is a wear-prone part of the reciprocating compressor piston assembly. It is assembled in the second-stage piston ring groove and reciprocates with the piston in the second-stage cylinder to provide radial support and positioning for the piston, and is suitable for high-pressure hydrogen conditions.

Main Functions

It radially supports the piston body and isolates it from the inner wall of the cylinder liner, preventing direct contact with the liner and the dry friction that would score the cylinder bore.

It constrains the coaxiality of the piston reciprocating motion, reducing piston radial sway and the piston ring wear caused by it, and lowering unit vibration and abnormal noise.

It does not perform the main gas sealing function but only provides guidance and support, ensuring smooth reciprocating motion of the piston.

Structural Material

Open sleeve-type ring, with an opening to compensate for thermal expansion during operation; filled PTFE modified engineering plastic is used for high-pressure hydrogen conditions, featuring self-lubricating, wear-resistant, and hydrogen embrittlement resistant properties; it is arranged in a single row or double row and assembled in the piston guide ring groove.
