First-Stage Guide Ring

Description: The first-stage guide ring of a natural gas compressor is a wear-prone part of the reciprocating compressor piston assembly. It is assembled in the first-stage piston ring groove and reciprocates with the piston in the first-stage cylinder, providing radial support and positioning for the piston.

Main Functions

It radially supports the piston and isolates it from the inner wall of the cylinder liner, preventing direct contact with the liner and the dry friction that would score the cylinder bore.

It constrains the coaxiality of the piston reciprocating motion, reduces piston radial oscillation, improves the stress conditions of the first-stage piston ring, and reduces piston ring wear.

It does not perform the main gas sealing function but only provides guidance and support, reducing unit vibration and abnormal noise and ensuring smooth reciprocating motion.

Structural Material

Open sleeve-type ring, with an opening to compensate for thermal expansion; filled PTFE modified engineering plastic is mostly used for natural gas compression conditions, with self-lubricating, wear-resistant, and oil and gas media resistant properties; it is arranged in a single row or double row and assembled in the piston guide ring groove.
