Conveying Disc

Description: The conveying disc of a tubular chain conveyor is a circular scraper or chain plate fixed to the chain. It pushes the material along inside the closed pipe and is the core load-bearing component of the conveyor. It is usually made of wear-resistant material and circulates inside the pipe together with the chain, enabling the horizontal, inclined, and vertical conveying of powder or granular materials.

Materials of the Conveying Disc The disc material is selected differently for different working conditions. The common types are as follows:Engineering plastics: The most commonly used.

Including nylon (PA66) POM (polyoxymethylene) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Wear-resistant, self-lubricating, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and quiet.

For industries such as food and chemicals that require high material purity. Low coefficient of friction, low running resistance, little damage to the pipe wall, and a relatively low cost.

Metallic materials: Such as high-strength alloy steel, 304 stainless steel, or carbon steel. High hardness, strong load-bearing capacity, and high temperature resistance.

For conveying heavy or high-temperature materials such as ores and building materials. Surface hardness up to HRC45–50, with better wear resistance than ordinary carbon steel, but a relatively high weight.

Composite materials: In some special applications modified plastics with a wear-resistant coating are used to balance toughness and wear resistance.

Selection Criteria.

Material characteristics: For corrosive materials, choose acid- and alkali-resistant plastics or stainless steel.

For fragile materials, choose smooth-surfaced nylon discs; and for heavy materials, choose high-strength alloy steel.

Conveying conditions: Lightweight, low-resistance nylon discs are preferred for long-distance or multi-turn routes.

In high-temperature environments, heat-resistant modified materials should be selected.
