Description: Static sealing spare fitted between stationary mating faces of equipment flanges, end covers and pipe joints. Compressive deformation generated by bolt down force fills microscopic gaps on metal contact surfaces and prevents outward leakage of liquid, gas and process material media.
Tightening flange bolts compresses gasket and creates elastic deformation. Microscopic uneven gaps on flange sealing surfaces get fully filled, blocking medium leakage paths and achieving leak tight sealing performance.
1. Non Metallic Soft Gaskets (Preferred for Low Pressure Clean Service)
a. Food grade EPDM gaskets: Resist hot water, steam, weak acid & weak alkali media. Widely used on heat exchangers, storage tanks and fermentation tank flanges.
b. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) gaskets: Excellent universal corrosion resistance, acid alkali resistant, hygienic non toxic. Deployed for citric acid, lysine, reaction vessels and ion exchange equipment.
c. Silicone gaskets: Heat sterilisable food grade quality; for filling equipment and clean process pipelines.
d. Asbestos free fibre gaskets: General purpose for water service and low pressure steam pipelines.
2. Semi Metallic Composite Gaskets (Medium Temperature & Medium Pressure Conditions)
Metal spiral wound gaskets: Alternately wound stainless steel strip with graphite / PTFE filler. Resist high temperature, high pressure and vibration loading; used for steam piping and heat exchanger manhole flanges.
3. Full Metallic Gaskets (Severe High Temp High Pressure Service)
Stainless steel flat gaskets, toothed gaskets, octagonal ring gaskets; used inside high pressure reactors.
