Main Functions

1. Solid liquid separation & filtration: Centrifugal force pushes liquid through screen slots while solid materials are retained to complete dewatering process.

2. Particle size classification control: Slot opening defines minimum retained particle dimension and prevents fine solid leakage into filtrate.

3. Filter cake support: Withstand centrifugal pressure exerted by feed material and build stable filter cake layer.

4. Self cleaning anti clogging performance (wedge wire screen): Slots adopt inward narrow outward wide profile; particles seldom get wedged inside gaps and screen clogging probability is reduced.

Common Structural Types

1. Wedge Wire Screen (Johnson Screen / Slotted Screen, Industry Preferred)

Fabricated by welding V profile stainless steel wedge bars onto support ribs. Slot opening: 0.05 2 mm. Preferred for food grade starch, sugar, lysine and mineral dewatering duties; high wear resistance and high open area ratio with low tendency for material clogging. Available geometries: cylindrical shape, conical screen basket shape.

2. Perforated Plate Screen

Orifices created by laser cutting or stamping, including round holes and elongated holes. High plate body rigidity, suitable for coarse particle feed. Drawback: small size orifices tend to get clogged.

3. Woven Wire Mesh

Stainless steel woven mesh, high filtration precision for fine material service; relatively poor wear resistance and limited service life.

4. Etched Screen

Orifices created by chemical etching on thin sheet material, can realise ultra fine slot dimension down to 0.05 mm; for high precision fine particle filtration duties.
