Discharge Valve

Description: Critical wear‑resistant spare fitted at steep‑tank conical bottoms. Special‑purpose valve for corn‑steeping‑section used for discharging and batch‑transferring mixed corn‑kernel and steep‑liquor media.

Select Product

Application Installed on conical-bottom discharge nozzles of corn steep tanks; governs discharge tank-to-tank transfer and full-tank emptying operations for mixed corn-kernel plus sulfurous-acid steep-liquor streams.

Process fluid carries corn particulates, fine residues and protein-rich suspended solids. Seal failure or particulate jamming triggers leakage or loss of discharge capability.

Directly interrupting steep-tank-battery transfer workflows. Pneumatic/electric actuators can be fitted for remote on-off interlock control via PLC.

Structural (Preferred for steep tanks: Pneumatic Slurry Knife-Gate Valve)

1. Valve body

2. Knife-gate obturator (closure member)

3. Valve stem

4. Replaceable sealing liner (PTFE/EPDM acid-resistant rubber.

Consumable spare-part)

5. Actuator (pneumatic or electric)

6. Limit-switch assembly (provides valve open-/closed-position feedback signal)

7. Flanged connection interfaceWorking principleActuator drives valve-stem for linear vertical travel of knife-gate obturator.

Gate descends to block flow-path and close valve; full gate lift opens full-bore unobstructed passage for material discharge.

Sharp-edged gate shears and displaces corn kernels and flocculated protein to stop particulate entrapment between sealing faces.

Valve-body geometry remove bottom-recess material-accumulation dead-zones, making it ideal for solid-liquid mixed-media duties.

Operating Conditions & Material Requirements.

Medium: Corn kernels mixed with sulfurous-acid steep liquor, fine-protein-residue suspensions; mildly corrosive with particle-erosion loading.

Operating temperature: 48–52℃; atmospheric pressure.

Valve body: 316L stainless steel, resistant against sulfurous-acid pitting corrosion.

Knife gate: 316L stainless-steel with wear-hardened cutting edge.

Sealing liner: EPDM acid-resistant rubber/PTFE (consumable; spare-parts stock-up required).

Actuation: Pneumatic (plant-site mainstream) with open-closed position feedback; electric actuation optional.

Connection: Flanged mating to steep-tank conical-bottom nozzle.

Key attribute: Full-bore passage free of media dead-spaces supporting effective CIP cleaningTechnical 1. Knife-gate geometry displaces corn kernels and protein flocs for superior anti-jamming performance for solid-liquid discharge applications.316L wetted components withstand sulfurous-acid corrosion for food-grade starch-process service.

Independently-replaceable sealing liner; full valve-body replacement is unnecessary, lowering spare-part expenditure.

Position-feedback signal available for PLC status read-back enabling interlocked tank-transfer-sequence automation.

Unobstructed flow-path minimizes discharge resistance for thorough tank-emptying with minimal residual material hold-up.
