Feed Distributor

Description: A critical flow‑splitting component for corn‑starch desanding systems. Installed upstream of hydrocyclone banks, it evenly divides starch‑slurry feed from pump discharge to multiple desanding hydrocyclones. It does not perform sand removal itself, but delivers stable feed flow, pressure and concentration to each hydrocyclone for balanced overall desanding performance.

Functions

1. Splits single-stream feed into multiple branches enabling one or more pumps to supply several hydrocyclones and boosting total system throughput.

Improves feed uniformity stop over-feed or under-feed for individual hydrocyclones and separation-efficiency fluctuations caused by uneven flow distribution.

Stabilizes inlet pressure ahead of hydrocyclones, mitigating pipeline flow deviation, eddies and localized impact loads.

This shield downstream components: hydrocyclones, underflow nozzles, overflow pipes and pressure gauges. Simplifies on-site maintenance and isolation.

Individual hydrocyclone branches can be shut off via valves for service without full-system shutdown. Structural Forms Three major configurations are available:1. Horizontal tubular distributor: Built around a horizontal main header.

Starch slurry enters from one side or central port, with multiple outlets branching sideways or downwards. Simple construction, easy installation, ideal for parallel hydrocyclone arrays.

Cavity-type distributor: has a large internal buffer chamber to stabilize flow field and pressure. Suited for high-throughput applications with significant feed-condition fluctuations.

Baffled distributor with flow straighteners: Internal guide baffles suppress flow deviation and vortex formation.

Delivering highly uniform outlet-to-outlet flow rates.

Material options for corn-starch lines:- Stainless-steel version: corrosion-resistant and easy-to-clean well-suited for food-grade processing.- Carbon-steel lined version: cost-effective.

Requires smooth inner lining and reliable sealing to reduce starch fouling and abrasive wear. Position within Desanding Process In typical corn-starch desanding workflows.

Starch slurry is pressurized by pumps first then fed into the feed distributor before being routed to individual desanding hydrocyclones.

Inside hydrocyclones, pressurized slurry generates high-speed vortex flow; sand particles exit via heavy-impurity outlets.

While desanded starch slurry flows through overflow pipes to subsequent process units. Positioned between pumps and hydrocyclones, the feed distributor acts as pressure-and-flow manifold.

Poor distributor design will trigger unstable desanding efficiency accelerated local component wear and large-magnitude pressure fluctuations — even when hydrocyclones.

Underflow nozzles and overflow pipes are in perfect working condition.
