Description: Side‑wall mounted instrument for corn steeping tanks, providing local real‑time level indication for sulfurous acid steep liquor. Optional high‑/low‑level alarm switches and 4‑20 mA remote transmitter feed signals to central‑control PLC, realizing interlocked control for feeding, circulation and discharging and preventing tank overflow or pump dry‑running. It replaces traditional glass‑tube level gauges and eliminates poor visibility from scaling plus glass‑breakage hazards, acting as standard instrumentation for corn steeping systems.
Structural composition
1. Main measuring chamber (wetted standpipe)
2. Magnetic float (embedded permanent magnet inside measuring chamber)
3. Red-and-white bi-color magnetic flip indicator with graduated scale
4. Upper & lower connecting flanges (interfacing with steeping tank)
5. Drain valve.
Optional accessories: high-/low-level magnetic switches 4–20mA remote transmitterWorking principleOperates on communicating-vessel principle.
Buoyancy and magnetic coupling.
Main standpipe hydraulically connects to steeping tank so internal liquid level matches tank level. Magnetic float rises and falls with liquid variation.
Built-in permanent magnet penetrates pipe wall and toggles external bi-color flip plates: red for liquid phase.
White for gas phase. Boundary between red-white zones denotes actual liquid height. Fitted transmitter converts level signal into 4–20mA analog output for remote DCS/PLC monitoring.
Magnetic switches trigger overflow alarm and low-level pump-protection interlock.
Operating conditions and material requirements (corn steeping tank).
Medium: Sulfurous acid steep liquor with minor corn-protein suspended solids, mildly corrosive.
Operating temperature: 48–52℃.
Pressure: Atmospheric pressure. Wetted standpipe & float: 316L stainless steel. Long-term 304 deployment is not recommended.
Mounting: Side-flange installation; segmented assemblies available for large tanks. Signal configuration: Local visual indication + 4–20mA remote transmission + high/low level alarm switchesTechnical 1. Clear local readout with no external power supply required
2. Fully encapsulated measuring elements: only inner standpipe touches process medium.
Flip indicators stay non-wetted and resist fouling
3. Dual function: on-site visual check plus automated remote control
4. Zero mechanical wearing parts.
Robust for humid corrosive starch-plant environments
5. Bottom drain port for periodic flushing of protein residues and fine sediments.
