Description: The spray pump seal (shaft seal) is a core accessory of the spray circulating pump. It is installed where the pump shaft passes through the pump casing, sealing the gap between the rotating pump shaft and the pump casing to prevent the spray liquid from leaking out, while preventing air from being drawn back into the pump chamber and ensuring stable water pressure in the spray system. It is widely used in production lines such as starch sugar, food wet spray washing sections, desulfurization and waste gas spray towers.
Mainstream Sealing Types (3 Most Commonly Used in Industrial Spray Pumps)
1. Mechanical seal (end face seal preferred for food/starch spray pumps) It is currently the most widely used sealing type for spray pumps.
Structural composition.
Rotating ring: Rotates together with the pump shaft.
Stationary ring: Fixed to the pump cover and remains stationary. Spring/bellows compensator: Continuously presses the friction end faces together to compensate for wear of the sealing faces.
O-ring auxiliary seal (rubber ring): Provides static sealing to stop leakage. Working principleSpring pressure and liquid pressure keep the precision end faces of the rotating ring and the stationary ring in close contact.
A micron-level thin liquid film is formed between the friction faces which lubricates and cools the friction pair while stop bulk leakage of the liquid.
Minimal leakage, long service life and no wear on the pump shaft. Applicable operating conditions: Clean water spraying, glucose/starch washing spraying and corrosive spray liquids.
For spray media containing a small amount of fine particles an anti-particle SiC-SiC (silicon carbide) friction pair seal is recommended.
Packing seal (gland packing seal) The stuffing box is filled with braided graphite/PTFE packing and sealing is by tightening the gland bolts so that the packing grips the pump shaft.
Low cost and easy installation.
Drawbacks: Slight dripping occurs during operation which causes wear to the pump shaft and requires periodic tightening and replacement of the packing.
Low-pressure, intermittent and ordinary water circulation spraying. Dynamic auxiliary impeller seal (for spraying slurry containing particles) It relies on the centrifugal negative pressure generated by the rotation of the auxiliary impeller to stop liquid leakage.
And on the sealing ring for sealing when the machine stops. It is for spray liquids containing fibers and fine solid particles.
And is less prone to sand jamming and wear of the sealing faces.
