Take-up Device (Tensioning Device)

Description: Used on belt conveyors and bucket elevators to adjust belt tension, compensate for post-running elongation, ensure adequate tension, and prevent slippage, misalignment, and bucket dislodgemen.

Three mainstream structures (grain industry)

• Screw take-up (manual screw tensioning): most common on small/medium belt conveyors and bucket elevators; screw adjusts tail-pulley position, simple and low-cost.

• Gravity take-up: for long-distance, high-capacity belts; automatic constant tension, stable, no frequent manual adjustment.

• Spring take-up: for small equipment; cushions and absorbs shock.

Function

• Provide proper belt tension so the drive pulley does not slip on the belt;

• Compensate for long-term plastic belt elongation;

• Prevent bucket-elevator belt slack that causes buckets to scrape the casing.
