Idler (Troughing & Parallel Type)

Description: Idlers are the core supporting components of belt conveyors, carrying the weight of the belt and corn material and directly determining belt life and overall machine energy consumption. Troughing idlers are used in the carrying section (upper branch, conveying corn); parallel idlers are mainly used in the return section (lower branch, supporting the empty belt on its return).

Troughing Idler (carrying section) Composed of three rollers and a steel support frame. The middle roller is horizontal and the two side rollers incline upward to form a U-shaped trough.

The common trough angle for grain/corn is 35° (mainstream), with 20°, 30°, and 45° also available.

Roller: Q235 carbon-steel seamless pipe with welded end caps; shaft of 45# steel; deep-groove ball bearing multi-stage labyrinth dust- and water-proof seal.

Filled with lithium-based grease to stop dust ingress and jamming in grain-dust environments.

Installation location: Upper carrying section of the belt conveyor. The idlers squeeze the belt into a trough, concentrating loose corn in the belt center and spillage.

Installation spacing: Generally 0–1.2m per set for grain service; larger belt widths and higher outputs call for proportionally smaller spacing.

Trough form increases loading capacity and keeps corn kernels from scattering to the sides. Large carrying capacity, suited to raw-grain receiving, grain depots, and high-volume corn conveying at starch plants.

Reliable seal, dust-resistant, suited to outdoor and dusty workshop environments.

Common diameters for grain service: Φ89, Φ108, Φ114mm, matched to belt widths of 500/650/800/1000mm.(Φ/diameter) II.

Parallel Idler (Flat/Return Idler) A single straight roller, no tilt, horizontally mounted with a simple bracket.

The roller, bearing, and sealing structure are identical to the troughing idler roller body.

Installation location: Lower return section of the belt conveyor supporting the underside of the unloaded returning belt without contacting corn material.

Installation spacing: Generally 4–3.0m per set for grain service, larger than the carrying-section spacing. Simple structure, light weight, low cost.

Low rotational resistance, overall power consumption. Easy maintenance and simple replacement. In a few cases, parallel upper/lower self-aligning idlers are used to correct belt misalignment.
