Filter Basket for Continuous Spray Washing Machine

Description: Primary coarse filtration component for washer water recirculation circuits, intercepting solid debris to safeguard pumps, nozzles and piping.

Main Uses

Installed at circulating tank return inlets and pump suction ports as the first stage coarse filtration barrier of spray washer water circulation systems. Captures plastic fragments shed from turnover baskets, food residues, fibrous contaminants, sediment and scale particles, preventing solids ingress into circulation piping, spray nozzles and circulating pumps. It reduces nozzle blockage, pipeline fouling and pump seizure wear, stabilizes spray operating pressure, keeps water circulation unobstructed, lowers equipment failure frequency and preserves wash water cleanliness complying with food production hygiene standards.

Main Materials (Food Grade Stainless Steel Construction)

1. 304 Stainless Steel: General purpose grade; hot water and mild detergent resistant, good rust protection, high toughness and deformation resistance for most basket and tray washing scenarios.

2. 316L Stainless Steel: Premium grade offering enhanced corrosion resistance for chloride rich or aggressive chemical wash environments with improved pitting corrosion performance and extended service lifetime.

Manufacturing: Laser perforated plate or fine mesh welded construction, burr free dead corner free geometry for easy cleaning and bacterial growth suppression.

General Classification

1. Perforated Plate Filter Basket: Perforated sheet construction delivering high mechanical strength and impact resistance against high volume water flow. Suitable for heavy duty main wash tanks with high contaminant loading; most common equipment variant.

2. Woven Wire Mesh Filter Basket: Finer mesh aperture for higher filtration accuracy for rinse tank service to capture fine particles; somewhat lower mechanical strength than perforated plate designs.

Mounting styles: Pull out drawer type, hanging mount and flush recessed embedded type. All are fully demountable for quick removal cleaning inspection replacement.

Common Problems and Causes of Damage

1. Filter Aperture Blockage (Most Frequent Fault): Protein, grease and fibrous food debris stick and thermally bake solid across openings, hindering return water flow, producing tank water accumulation and insufficient spray pressure.

2. Basket Deformation / Collapse: High flow water impact stress, debris overload weight or mechanical blows dent screen panels and distort frames, shrinking effective filtration area and enabling contaminant bypass leakage.

3. Weld Joint Cracking Delamination: Thermal cycling, flow induced vibration and repeated removal reinstallation cause fatigue cracking of weld seams allowing unfiltered material bypass.

4. Corrosion Induced Perforation: Aggressive hot detergent / salt containing media produce pitting pin holes in standard 304 baskets, defeating solid particle interception capability.

5. Microbial Fouling Spoilage: Infrequent residue removal allows biofilm and bacterial proliferation under damp conditions, contaminating circulating wash water and violating food hygiene compliance.

Maintenance and Repair Standards

1. Per Shift Routine Care: Post shutdown extract filter baskets, fully clear trapped debris and flush clean before reinstallation; never operate with loaded dirty baskets.

2. Periodic Deep Cleaning: Daily / weekly soak baskets with warm water plus food grade alkaline cleaner and citric acid to dissolve baked on grease, scale and biofilm and restore aperture permeability.

3. Visual Inspection: Check baskets for deformation, perforations, weld failure and corrosion; verify proper seating fit to eliminate contaminant bypass paths.

4. Prohibited Operations: Do not scour screens with steel wool or hard metal implements (scratch damage creates corrosion initiation sites); never run equipment without fitted filter baskets.

5. Replacement Criteria: Install new baskets for large scale deformation, screen rupture perforation, multiple weld fractures or severe corrosion to guarantee filtration performance and equipment operational safety.

Functional Summary

Though mechanically simple, filter baskets serve as the primary protective barrier for spray washing machine fluid circuits. Continuous solid contaminant filtration protects pumps, nozzles and piping assemblies, minimizes equipment downtime and sustains wash water quality in compliance with food industry hygiene production standards.
