Description: Engineering plastic round bar for manufacturing wear resistant mechanical parts, as alternative to certain metal components. Key characteristics: high toughness, good wear resistance and oil resistance. Common commercial grades include PA6, PA66 and cast MC nylon.
1. PA6 Nylon Rod: Milkywhite translucent appearance, balanced comprehensive properties, cost effective, most widely used grade.
2. PA66 Nylon Rod: Cream colored. Improved mechanical strength, rigidity and heat resistance vs PA6; well suited for automatic lathe machining.
3. MC Nylon Rod (Cast Nylon): Ivorywhite or blue (e.g. MC901). High molecular weight, superior wear resistance and creep resistance, for large diameter component production.
4. Modified Nylon Grades (filled):
• Glass fiber reinforced (black): Greatly enhanced strength & heat resistance.
• Molybdenum disulfide filled (grey black): Improved rigidity and wear performance.
• Antistatic grade (black): Carbon powder additive for controllable resistivity; used for electronic component storage trays.
• Mechanical performance: High toughness, high strength, wear resistant, oil resistant, shock resistant and good self lubricating property.
• operating temperature: Continuous service -60 °C ~ +100 °C; short term peak temperature approx. 130 °C (grade dependent).
• Water absorption characteristic: Polyamide absorbs moisture; dimensional change may occur after water uptake; original performance can be restored after drying process.
• Safety note: Standard industrial nylon rods are not food contact grade and shall not touch food materials. Food machinery applications require dedicated food safe nylon variants.
• Machining: Good machinability. Ensure chip evacuation. Safety goggles are recommended during machining operations.
